Rachel Fernandez
Chicago-based writer, editor and multimedia reporter

Rachel is a recent graduate from DePaul University with a double major in Communication and Media Studies and Journalism and a minor in Documentary Studies. She's a fun and fresh multifaceted writer with an avid interest in lifestyle reporting, long-form stories and personal narratives. Rachel is detail oriented and a strong analytical thinker with a consistently positive outlook.
During her time at DePaul, Rachel worked as the managing editor for The DePaulia, the university's primary weekly print publication where her work was regularly published both online and in print. She specialized in Arts & Life reporting, conceptualizing design and layouts, copy editing and feature writing. Her multimedia projects include video, audio and photo documentary.

Post-grad, Rachel spent a lot of time figuring out what was hip and happenin' with the teens as an editorial intern with TigerBeat (a dream job for her since she grew up reading the magazine). She wrote breaking stories about boy bands, quizzes about teen stars and listicles about Camila Cabello's banana obsession. And she loved every second.

Rachel's signature font is EB Garamond, and she has a borderline unhealthy obsession with NPR. Send her pictures of your pets and talk to her about your junior high emo phase. She loves to listen.
