Tokyo
July 2018
Whether it be "Summer 2012" or "Breakup Songs to Cure a Broken Heart," every notable life event needs a good playlist. Songs that take you back to a particular moment or make you think about a specific time or feeling or memory. I've found that listening to a well-crafted list of songs helps me process experiences and the emotions surrounding them.
A good playlist is like a soundtrack for life creating a beginning, middle and end for a particular era or situation. A good playlist makes you feel nostalgic for a time that you're currently experiencing. A good playlist is...subjective. But I think this one's pretty good.
This particular playlist was inspired by a freaking remarkable trip I took to Tokyo, Japan with three of the greatest travel partners I could have ever hoped to have. Their names are Ali, Doug and Ryan, and they've been wonderful friends for years.
Each song is attached to a memory, and I wanted to create something that preserved and commemorated the trip. A single place to house the funny memories and museum tickets and iPhone pictures. So I combined it all. Kinda like a digital scrapbook.

Sometimes this feels like a selfish project. It's mostly based on my own thoughts and experiences, and I did this for me purely because I wanted to. But I also wanted to share the convoluted thought process of documenting my own life with the people who inspire me to remember.
